UP's jaggery will create a different identity in the world

Lucknow. The situation of sugarcane farmers was bad 4 years ago. There was no sugarcane payment for five, six, seven years. The Khandasari industry was completely shut down. Could not get license. The situation changed as soon as we came to power. Today, he also gets a license within a few hours of applying. License fee is waived. Online arrangements have been made. Any Khandasari industry can be set up within a radius of 7 kilometers instead of 15 kilometers. As a result of this, the sugarcane produced in the districts of Uttar Pradesh like Muzaffarnagar, Shamli Ho Ayodhya, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur are the main districts, the sugarcane produced by the farmers there is not only locally but also at the level of the country and the world. But also giving them a new identity and new beneficial value.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday inaugurated the two-day 'Rajya Gur Festival 2021' organized by the state's Sugarcane Development Department at the Indira Gandhi Foundation in Lucknow. On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi said that I am happy that due to the efforts of the State Government, with a view to bring changes in the lives of sixty lakh farmers of the state, today the State Good Festival is seen touching a new heights. These programs have been started with a view to enable the local product to get its branding to market and to provide maximum remunerative price to the farmer by visiting the product in the country and the world. I heartily congratulate the state's sugarcane minister, the additional chief secretary, sugarcane and excise, and their entire team for a successful event for this event. I have inspected many pandals. A new interest has arisen. There is also a new awareness of new India, which is a new awareness about cleanliness, also towards cleanliness towards health. Prime Minister Modi has given the nation a new approach to health awareness through the Swachh Bharat Mission, it will always be effective everywhere.

CM said that in our childhood sugar used to be high and jaggery used to be low. Today, the price of jaggery has increased compared to sugar due to its medicinal properties. There are seven lakh sugarcane farmers in the state, sugarcane is cultivated in an area of 27 lakh hectares. We have done the task of connecting those sugarcane farmers with the new system and arranging for them online slip. Sugarcane prices have been paid over 125600 crores. During the Corona period, when the sugar mills were closed in other states, we started running the sugar mills of the state. As long as there is a single crop of sugarcane, no sugar mill should be closed, we made such an arrangement. So far, over 53% of the sugarcane prices have been paid. Gur is becoming a new brand inside the state. We have included jaggery as ODOP in three districts of the state, Muzaffarnagar, Ayodhya Lakhimpur. I am confident that the product will serve to bring international recognition of these products to all of you and will also help in getting remunerative prices to the sugarcane farmers.

It is worth mentioning that for the first time after independence, the Gur Mahotsav is being organized. The main objective of this event is to encourage the jaggery-producing farmers to produce quality jaggery and its by-products, and to make the common man aware of the medicinal properties of jaggery. In this unique festival in itself, various stalls of jaggery and its by-products have been set up by jaggery producers from different districts of the state. These stalls include jaggery tea, jaggery laddu, kulfi, jalebi, halwa, kheer, dry ginger, fennel, cardamom, sesame, groundnut, gajak, cashew, almond, saffron-containing jaggery and jaggery dumpling, jaggery chocolate etc. People are enjoying a lot of products and cuisines.
